๐ The short version: DLens SDK processes all document data entirely on the user's device. We do not receive, store, or transmit any scanned document data, personal information, or biometric data. Ever.
1. Who We Are
DLens ("we", "us", "our") provides the DLens SDK โ a mobile software development kit for iOS that enables applications to scan and parse identity documents entirely on-device. Our website is located at dlens.io.
For questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@dlens.io.
2. The DLens SDK โ No Document Data Collected
The core principle of DLens is that all document scanning and processing happens exclusively on the end user's device. This means:
- No document images are captured, stored, or transmitted by the SDK
- No personal data extracted from documents (names, dates of birth, document numbers) is sent to any server
- No biometric data, photos, or facial images are stored or transmitted
- No scan history or usage logs are maintained on device or in the cloud
- The SDK does not require an internet connection to function
- All OCR, barcode decoding, and data parsing runs in-process on the device
DLens does not act as a data processor for your users' personal data under GDPR Article 4(8) because we never receive, access, or process that data.
3. What the SDK Does Store
The only data the DLens SDK writes to persistent storage is:
- Last-used zoom level โ a single floating-point number stored in UserDefaults to restore the camera zoom preference between sessions. This contains no personal information.
- Licence validation cache โ a timestamp indicating when the API key was last validated, stored locally to allow offline-first operation. This contains no personal information.
4. Website Data We Collect

If you contact us by email, we retain your email address and message content for the purpose of responding to your enquiry and maintaining a support history.
4.3 Technical Data
Our web hosting provider may collect standard server access logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. This data is retained for up to 30 days for security and operational purposes.
